The Mt. Healthy Building & Zoning Department is here to protect your health, safety and welfare by enforcing the building and zoning codes that have been adopted as law by your local government.

Through building plan review and site inspections of your projects we make every effort to protect you from inferior and sometimes hazardous construction practices.

Projects that require building permits are as follows: new buildings; additions; sheds; renovations; some repair work; re-roofing; heating and/or air conditioning; fences; pools; decks; fireplaces; and new or replacement signs and more. Please contact our department before you start your project to determine if a building permit is needed.

The function of the Property Maintenance Department is to enforce the guidelines put forth in the City Ordinances concerning property maintenance. The department exists to help keep Mt. The Board of Zoning Appeals helps with the administration of the Zoning Ordinance, and in particular to decide and interpret provisions which require impartial adjustments of conflicting interests and to grant variances from the strict letter of the Zoning Ordinance in instances of unnecessary hardship.

The Zoning Ordinance is available for review at the Mt. Healthy city building, 7700 Perry St. The "BZA" meets the third Wednesday of the month in the city building at 7:00PM (as needed).

The Planning Commission is established to make plans and zoning maps of the whole of the municipal corporation which, in the opinion of the commission, is related to the planning of the Municipal Corporation, and make changes in such maps when it deems it advisable. The Planning Commission shall review all new developments for compliance with the adopted plans as they relate to for water, light, sanitation, transportation, communication, power, and other purposes; and the removal, relocation, widening, narrowing, vacating, abandonment, change of use of or extension of such public ways.
