RECYCLING IS EASY !
HERE'S HOW TO DO IT......

FIRST: Get a recycling bin.
Call the Mt. Healthy City Building 931-8840
There is no charge for bins.

SECOND: Place the proper items in the bin.
The following is a list of acceptable items...

  • Newspapers with glossy ad inserts, magazines, catalogs and telephone books should be placed together in brown paper grocery sacks. Place sacks inside your bin, or in case of rain, place under the bin. Pizza boxes are not accepted.

  • All colored glass bottles and jars. Please rinse and remove rings and lids. Sorry, no windows, sheet glass, mirrors, light bulbs, drinking glasses or mugs, and oven/cooking glassware

  • Plastic: Look for the recycle logo (the triangle with arrows going around) on the bottom of plastic containers. The logos with the number 1 or 2 in the center are OK. Includes most milk jugs and soda bottles. Please rinse and remove rings and lids.

  • Aluminum & Bi-Metal soda, pop, beer, steel food or soup cans are acceptable. Sorry, no pots or pans, coat hangers, or scrap metal.

THIRD: Set the loaded-up recycle bin out with the trash.

IF YOU FOLLOWED THESE STEPS....

YOU ARE RECYCLING !

Mt. Healthy Residents Recycled 151.49 Tons in 2007

Congratulations Mt. Healthy residents! In 2006, you recycled 151.49 tons of metal, glass, plastic, and paper. Your recycling efforts benefited the environment and the local economy in a big way.

The recycling efforts in Mt. Healthy saved the equivalent of:

*        1,254 trees

*        7,585 gallons of gasoline

*        Enough energy to power 22 average homes for an entire year

 *    126 tons of greenhouse gases - equivalent to removing 100 cars from the road.

Recycling reduces pollution so the air we breathe is cleaner, conserves natural resources so we will have them to use in the future, and decreases the amount of waste going to the landfill. Recycling also boosts our local economy by creating 169,000 jobs and $6 billion in annual wages just in the State of Ohio.

Each household in Mt. Healthy recycled 107 pounds in 2006. That's a lot of pop cans and newspapers! If you would like to see even more material recycled in 2007, check out the list below to make sure you include all these materials in your recycling bin. Don't have a bin? Mt. Healthy makes it easy! Call 931-8840 to request your bin today!
