PUBLIC WORKS |
|
The Mt. Healthy Public Works Department's main service to the community is to provide street maintenance. This consists of maintaining street signs, fixing potholes, painting center lines and crosswalks, and repairing storm sewers, inlets and catch basins.
When the winter season is upon us and mother nature leaves a blanket of snow on the City streets, the Public Works Department provides snow removal on the streets, as well as the City's alleys and public parking lots. If you have a sewer problem, (i.e. backed up basement drains, sewer odors or cave-ins) you may contact the Metropolitan Sewer District Department at 244-5500, or if you have a water problem, (i.e. no water or rusty water), contact the Cincinnati Water Works at 591-7700. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Street Department at 728-3185 Ext. 120

Snow Plowing Policy The city is divided into 3 sections with a snow plow in each section. Priority is given to the main streets, intersections, school zones, streets with hills and curves. The main streets are cleared first. The secondary streets and subdivisions are given equal attention after the main streets and school zones are cleared. These main streets are cleared first:
Hamilton Ave. During prolonged snowstorms, it is necessary for the snow plow operators to make repeated passes on the main streets to keep traffic flowing. This delays the plows from clearing the neighborhood streets.

Guidelines When Clearing Sidewalks and Driveways Once the crews have cleared the street, do not push or blow the snow from your driveway into the street. Passing motorists drive over the fresh snow and pack it down. When the temperature drops, that snow forms slippery patches resulting in a driving hazard.
Snow
Plow Safety on the Road Remember that snow plows must maintain a certain speed for the plows to be effective. For your safety and the safety of the snow plow drivers, give them plenty of room to make wide turns, keep a safe distance behind the plows and do not pass the plows. City crews do a more effective job when residents travel only when necessary and use off street parking when available.
